The Year of the Tiger is now upon us, and while celebrating both the New Year and the Lunar New Year, the Vegan Africa Fund is also celebrating the impact VAF had in 2021. In less than a year, the Vegan Africa Fund has supported vegan efforts in 5 countries.

In the past few months, the Vegan Africa Fund has built a directory of over 300 businesses across Africa that are vegan and sustainable. We also closed our pre-sale for the VAF crypto - you’ll be hearing a lot more about the eco-friendly crypto behind our operations in 2022.

In November 2021, we supported the Veg Fest Morocco, a weekend-long live-stream festival that featured international speakers and reached over 50,000 people.

The Vegan Africa Fund made our first investment in Vegan Basket, which has since doubled its kitchen and restaurant capacity, increased sales and production outputs significantly, and conducted research and development into vegan protein alternatives with products sourced sustainably on the Kenya coast.

In Uganda, we supported vegan outreach programs through football tournaments by supporting the Vegan Society of Uganda. We also supported vegan outreach at markets, schools, and through youth programs through the Podrska Foundation.

The Vegan Africa Fund also supported Chef Cola, founder of African Vegan on a Budget and new cookbook author. We supported a plant-based African cooking class in Cape Town, South Africa led by Zimbabwe-based Chef Cola.

2022 is going to be even more impactful. Our mission is to support the vegan future of Africa, and we are grateful to all who have invested so far! If you’re a vegan entrepreneur in Africa seeking funding, reach out through the apply page. Follow our instagram and twitter to get involved, and if you want to help us support the pan-African vegan network, invest in the VAF crypto.
